Annual Tahoe Garden Party 2009

Every year, before we go back down to beautiful San Diego for the summer, we try to gather our friends and neighbors for a backyard barbecue. We usually have the party around the end of May or even early June which, although it doesn’t guarantee us perfect weather, at least increases our chances of enjoying a nice, sunny, wind-less day. Guess we got lucky yesterday. It was the perfect day to sit outside and eat good food, have a few drinks and enjoy great company.

Note: Photos will be taken down in one week.  Only food photos will remain.

While friends catch up with the latest gossips, make new and renew old acquaintances, our friend Colleen brought and mixed refreshing Mimosas. It was the perfect starter for the Chicken Spring Rolls (Lumpia) and homemade Spicy Lemon Pepper Tortilla Chips we had on the table. We munched on some fresh vegetables with hummus dip brought by Bob and Nancy while waiting for our lunch to warm up.

It was a simple menu of mixed grill, oven kalua pork with three different barbecue sauces, roasted salmon with sour cream dill, roasted vegetables and wild rice. Christel brought her famous salad (we LOVE her salad!!) of mixed greens, honey mustard and pine nuts. For dessert, we had fresh fruits, ube and hibiscus cheesecake and the  light and fluffy crescent “cookies” brought by Bob and Ilse.

Another gorgeous day spent having fun with  friends and neighbors?  PRICELESS!
