Strawberry Chiffon Cake with Chocolate Strawberry Glaze
It might not look like one but, yes, that is a strawberry chiffon cake. I didn’t get a chance to take a picture of a slice because I made it for our next door neighbor who celebrated his 69th birthday a couple of days ago and I didn’t want to deliver a cake minus a slice! I adapted the recipe from Aunty Yochana‘s with just some minor changes.
Ingredients:
- 4 egg yolks
- 5 egg whites
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup pureed fresh strawberries
- 5 tbs vegetable oil
- 1 1/4 cup cake flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp cream of tartar
Directions:
- Combine the egg yolks with half the sugar until well mixed. Add the oil and strawberry puree and continue stirring.
- Sift the flour and baking powder and add into the yolk mixture.
- In an electric mixer, beat egg white with cream of tartar. Gradually add the rest of sugar gradually and beat till stiff.
- Fold egg white with the egg yolk mixture and pour into a prepared pan (greased and dusted with flour)
- Bake in a preheated 350F oven for 45 to 50 minutes. When cake is done, remove from oven and invert into a wire rack to cool.
- Slide a spatula around the cake pan to remove cake. Drizzle chocolate strawberry glaze and serve.
Chocolate Strawberry Glaze
Ingredients:
- 1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
- 2 tbs unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup pureed strawberry
- sugar (optional)
Directions:
- On a double boiler, melt chocolate chips with butter. Add strawberry puree (and sugar if desired) and stir until melted and shiny.
- Keep on double boiler until ready to use.

I like the glaze on that cake. Nice. Hope your neighbor enjoyed it. I know I would have.
Yum! This strawberry chiffon looks excellent. Lucky next door neighbor. I’m sure this was a fabulous bday celebration cake!! And I love the chocolate topping. Strawberries and chocolate were meant to be together
